[01] Oil Surge Continues

The international community is puzzled over oil prices, which traded Tuesday at almost US$120 per barrel and with the euro dollar parity being fixed at US$1.60.

As per analysts, the price of oil may reach US$150 per barrel until autumn, despite opposite forecasts made in the beginning of the year.

Light crude in the Singapore market traded early morning at US$118.11 and Brent at US$116.00. The continuing surge of oil prices has been attributed to the weak dollar and geopolitical tensions.

[02] Clinton Prevails in Pennsylvania

Clintons 10-point win paid immediate dividends in fund-raising for the cash-strapped New York senator and shaved off some of Obamas lead in popular votes and in delegates who select the Democratic nominee at the August convention. With 99% of the ballots counted Ms Clinton has garnered 55%, while her rival Barack Obama 45%.

Many analysts had said the Ms Clinton wished desperately a win so as to reject appeals to abandon the most so called "epic stand off" with Mr Obama that proved the most costly in the history of the Democratic Party.

Moreover, it is believed that her "convincing" victory will help her raise funds for her campaign that has been encountering serious financial problems.

Now, candidates eyes are turned to the new round of contests, which will be held in North Carolina, where Mr Obama is leading and in Indiana, where the result will be exceptionally ambivalent.

An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale took place near Sao Paolo and other Brazilians cities spreading panic to the people. The epicentre of the quake was located 280 kilometres off San Vicente, which is about 70 kilometres away from Sao Paolo.
