Speaking to Athens-Macedonian News Agency, Konitsa mayor Andreas Papaspyrou said he hoped the national championship competition could be held in the area next year and possibly the world championship in the future. He also said the area is popular for other sports such as canoe-kayak, rafting, archery and mountain bike. [02] A primary surplus allows for growth, Energy minister tells ANA-MPAAchieving and exceeding the primary surplus target will allow for spending on economic growth and social issues, Environment and Energy Minister Panos Skourletis told Athens-Macedonian News Agency in an interview on Sunday."Since we are exceeding the targets in relation to the level of the primary surplus, we can allocate the surplus to growth and to social issues," the minister was quoted as saying, adding that the government will "at no point need to activate the fiscal [contingency] mechanism." [03] ND: German reparations not statute barred but populist approach must be avoidedGreece's claims for war reparations from Germany are active and cannot be statute barred, main opposition spokesman Giorgos Koumoutsakos said in an article in "Real News" published on Sunday, but warned the government must not use it for domestic politics."Greece's claims particularly on the forced loan but also war reparations are active and strong. They cannot be statute barred. Neither morally, nor politically of legally," New Democracy spokesman said. "There is, therefore, legal room, the political and moral obligation, for an assertive strategy. But it has to be responsible - well prepared, so that it will be effective … and of course must not be linked to the current economic crisis. This would trivialize the national claim." Koumoutsakos continued to say that such a serious issue cannot "be dragged out every time SYRIZA faces problems and its own internal impasses" and urged for a parliamentary debate on the "problematic" report of the bipartisan committee which discussed the issue. New Democracy and the Communist Party had distanced themselves from the report published last week. Athens News Agency: News in English Directory - Previous Article - Next Article |
