  • [01] PM Tsipras to present gov't plan on fair development

    Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras on Thursday will present the government plan on "fair development."

    Tsipras will address a conference on "Greece 2021: Fair Development - Productive Reconstruction" at the Acropolis Museum, at 8 pm.

    The conference is organized by the Ministries of Economy, Development and Tourism, Infrastructure, Transport and Networks and Environment and Energy.

    [02] 56,622 identified migrants and refugees in Greece on Thursday; no new arrivals in the last 48h

    56,662 identified refugees and migrants were on the Greek territory on Thursday while no new arrivals were recorded in the last 48 hours.

    According to the Refugee Crisis Management Coordination Body's figures, 23,881 of the refugees are in northern Greece, 9,947 are hosted in the region of Attica, 8,319 on the Greek islands and 2,420 are hosted in different areas in central and southern Greece. 5,632 refugees and migrants are hosted in several facilities rented by the UNHCR, 4,923 are staying in non-organised facilities while approximately 1,500 persons are living outside organised facilities.

    [03] Boat with migrants and refugees runs aground

    A vessel with approximately 100 migrants and refugees on board ran aground earlier on Thursday in the area of Tshihliondas, northwestern Lesvos.

    Coast Guard patrol vessels are rushing to the area while according to sources the passengers are not in danger.

    [04] No metro and tram from 12:00 to 17:00 on Thursday

    Metro and tramway lines will stop running from 12:00 to 17:00 on Thursday, instead of Friday, due to a work stoppage called by the workers' union (STASY) who protest against government's plans for the privatisation of Athens' public transport as well as for the delay in the signing of a new collective labour contract.
