[01] Carbon monoxide survivors in stable condition in Larissa hospital
AMNA -- Three of the university students who survived after a carbon
monoxide poisoning that killed two of their classmates are in stable
condition, according to the Larissa GeneralHospital on Wednesday.
The five LarissaTechnicalSchool students were discovered by a friend on
Feb. 28; two21 and 22, had already died and the three were unconscious.
Hospital authorities said that one of the survivors, 23, was given a
tracheostomy to gradually bring him out of sedation. Of the other two,
one is stable and may exit hospital on Thursday. The other is in intensive
care but not intubated, improving and in contact with his environment.amna
The three survivors are from Athens, Ioannina (Yiannena) and Chania on
Crete. The five were discovered by a visiting friend who got the landlady
to open the house after repeatedly knocking on the door. The young men
had used an old water heater shell to start a fire with charcoals.amna
