AMNA -- Greece's economic sentiment index rose to 86.9 points in February, up from 85.8 points in January, a two-year high, the Institute for Economic and Industrial Research (IOBE) said on Wednesday.

IOBE, in its monthly report, said that business expectations improved in all sectors, except that of retail commerce, while consumer confidence stabilized at low levels. The report noted that both citizens and enterprises were trying to adjust to the situation created by the implementation of additional fiscal measures and a decision by the country's foreign creditors to continue funding the Greek economy. Consumer confidence, however, remained subdued with pessimistic forecasts by citizens, both over their personal finances and the country's economy.

More analytically, business expectations in the manufacturing sector improved significantly, with forecasts over current orders and demand remaining unchanged and inventories rising slightly.amna

Business expectations in the services sector eased slightly over their current activity, but rose over current demand and short-term developments.

In the retail sector, expectations over current sales deteriorated, while expectations over short-term sales prospects and inventories remaining unchanged.

In the construction sector, expectations improved markedly, while employment prospects recovered slightly.amna Tahoma;mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";color:#0F1419;mso-ansi-language: The consumer confidence index improved slightly in February, recovering for the fourth consecutive session, both in the Eurozone and the EU-27, although it remained far from its long-term average.
