    BRUSSELS - An ambitious European Union trade and investment plan for the Mediterranean has finally ground into action, but still faces difficulties -- not least Greece's uneasy acceptance of arch-foe Turkey's inclusion.

    BRUSSELS - European Union farm ministers are likely to agree next week a proposal to halve the 1997/98 cereals compulsory set-aside rate to five percent, an Irish EU Presidency official said on Thursday.

    BRUSSELS - Germany has said it will vote against a regulation setting the aid for the 1995 European Union hop harvest at next week's farm ministers meeting, an Irish government official said on Thursday.
