SRNA REVIEW OF DAILY NEWS, Aug. 21, 1996Srpska Republica News Agency (SRNA) Directory - Previous Article - Next ArticleFrom: Mirjana Petrovic <[email protected]>ZVORNIK - The Republika Srpska (RS) National Assembly presi dent, Momcilo Krajisnik, assessed in Zvornik that IFOR has no right to destroy the Serb defensive arms in the village of Mar getici, near Sokolac. Krajisnik said that the Operation Volcano was staged in order to turn the public attention from the prob lems within the CroatMuslim Federation and from the internation- al community's failure to resolve the same. SARAJEVO - Deputy RS foreign minister, Radomir Lukic, and the assistant to the Headquarters of the Army of Republika Srpska (GS VRS) commander, general Zdravko Tolimir, talked in Pale with Norwegian ambassador with OSCE Vigelig Eideom about the details of the implementation of the Dayton agreement con cerning the subregional arms control. This meeting, according to Lukic, is the sequel to the meeting of the Subregional Commission for Arms Control - the body in charge of resolving the possible disputes. This meeting was held ten days ago in Vienna and was attended by RS representatives, also. BANJA LUKA - The survival of Republika Srpska /RS/ within unitary B&H isn't possible, answered 87 persons asked in a poll which SRNA's computer for examining the public opinion did from 11 to 19 August by the method of accidental sample. At the question: "Is the survival of RS possible within unitary B&H?"- 87% of asked answered that it isn't possible, while 13% answered that it is. At the question: "Are you for RS, as independent state of Serbian people?"- 91% was "yes", 9% "no". HAMBURG - The Serb intelligentsia in Diaspora called upon the RS citizens to come and vote at the elections, if possible this to be in RS, and to, for the sake of its [the RS] future, vote for the confirmed patriotic parties and persons. "Vote for those powers which have firmly, courageously and selfsacrificing led the people through a brutal war - imposed to the Serbs - and who [powers] have not give up even in the postwar period which is full of unseen brutal pressure by world leaders and their native flatterers", says an appeal, pointing out that voters must remem ber all victims who have given their lives for freedom of the Serbian people. PARIS - The World Parliament of Serbs (SSS) intends within the next few days to invest money in the project for the protec tion of the civil rights of the RS citizens, as well as for protecting the rights which has Radovan Karadzic, says the Parliament Main Office. By this project the SSS wants to warn the international community that the same criteria for freedom and democracy are being applied in RS, as they [criteria] are being in other countries in which Serbs are been living. PARIS - The French daily, Figaro, writes about the preelec- tion atmosphere in RS and the B-H Federation and, in this sense, gives the example of a member of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA), Mirsad Cemana who, while being a quest at the Serb TV, provoked the Serbs by a Muslim discrimination salutation 'Maksuz Selam'. "The man concerned", writes Figaro further, "played stupid and denied that he had tried to insult anybody, and, ironically laughing, he repeated his salutation". AMSTERDAM - The Holland political press is lately united in an assessment that in the diplomatic trade between Serbia and Croatia Belgrade has not made more progress than it could have done in 1991, before the war broke out in the former Yugoslavia. Commentators are listing a row of requests on which President Slobodan Milosevic of Serbia has once firmly insisted on, and after five years of having troubled and negotiating, he has given up the same, anyway. SOKOLAC - Mayor of the city of Sokolac Milan Tupajic, warned that the consequences caused while destroying the munition from the warehouse of the Army of Republika Srpska (VRS) in the vil lage of Margetici will probably be experienced some time later, but then it would be too late to do anything. Expressing his fear that this action is not a temporary one, Tupajic said that he had warned the multinational forces officers that "IFOR personnel must stop frightening the local population and demonstrating their force, even in the city alone, for there is no need for them to do this". SOKOLAC - A priest of the Romanijska Lazarica Church in the village of Margetici, near Sokolac, archpriest Milorad Ljubinac stated that cracks caused on the Church while destroying the munition from the storage site of the VRS, are the lasting ones and will remain and serve as witnesses of this time and these occurrences. "Although, IFOR officers are assuring us that there will be no consequences upon the local population in Sokolac, the codename of this Operation - Volcano, tells us enough", said Ljubinac. /end/Srpska Republica News Agency (SRNA) Directory - Previous Article - Next Article |
