On this occasion mutual interest was stated for continuation of the successful realization of the gas supply arrangement, which further to the regular supply of our economy and population with gas, thanks to the possibility for the gas to be paid by deliveries of the Yugoslav goods, over the last years represented the basis of production and business of a number of domestic enterprises, with the value of deliveries of over 200 million US dollars per year one way.

During the talks it was pointed out also at many new opportunities for the development of economic cooperation between the Russian and the Serbian economies, not only in the field of energy, but also in the other economic branches. (TANJUG, July 22, 1996)

    [05] LILIC RETURNS

President of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia Zoran Lilic arrived last night in Belgrade by special plane from Atlanta, where he attended the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympic Games. President Lilic attended the basketball match between Yugoslavia and Greece and the water-polo match between Yugoslavia and Netherlands and Yugoslavia and Russia.

The third day of the 26th Olympic Games has brought to Yugoslavia the victories in team sports. Vice-President of the Muslim-Croat Federation Dr. Ejup Ganic arrived today in Belgrade at the head of the economic delegation. [07] DENIAL BY SLOVENIA

Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of Slovenia have denied today the information of certain foreign and Yugoslav media about their alleged demand for blocking of funds of Beogradska Banka in Cyprus, which Slovenia is deeming to be its share in the process of succession to the SFR of Yugoslavia.

Slovenian Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank, it is reported to Tanjug, also do not have a confirmation that the competent Cypriot authorities have undertaken any measures for freezing of funds of Beogradska Banka. (Politika, July 23, 1996)

[08] RUSSIANS WILL NOT MAKE ANY ARRESTS

Members of the Russian military contingent in Bosnia will not take part in an eventual arrest of Radovan Karadzic and Ratko Mladic, stated yesterday the Commander of the Air Strike forces of Russia, Colonel-General Yevgeny Potkolzin.

"Such a task no one has given to the Russian peace-keepers in Bosnia, but if it would be requested, I would order it not to be carried out", stated Potkolzin for the Interfaks news agency.

He is of the view that the participation of the Russian soldiers in an eventual capture of Karadzic and Mladic "would inevitably bring about escalation of tensions in Bosnia". (Vecernje novosti, July 23, 1996)

    [09] EXHUMATION SUSPENDED

Soldiers of the IFOR have prevented a group of Muslims armed with sticks and stones from attacking Serbs who were exhuming bodies of Serbian soldiers killed in northern Bosnia near Doboj. According to the IFOR spokesman Bert Budro, the presence of Swedish soldiers was necessary because the police of the Muslim- Croat Federation "was doing very little" in calming the enraged mob of Muslims.

Representative of the UN police forces Alexander Ivanko said that the group had exhumed earthly remains of 10 persons. Another 10 were found but their remains were not moved because of the threatening mob. (Politika ekspres, July 23, 1996)
