(Politika, July 22, 1996) [09] "THE NEW YORK TIMES" : HOLBROOK SAVES ELECTIONS IN BOSNIA"The News York Times" on Sunday commented that the withdrawal of Radovan Karadzic from the political scene is an important move for preservation of the Dayton Agreement and holding of the elections in Bosnia in the scheduled time.In the introductory article entitled "The Agreement Which Saved Elections in Bosnia", this newspaper writes that the latest Holbrook's mission in the Balkans shows how much it is possible to achieve by decisive diplomacy, and not to use in that either military force or re-establishment of economic sanctions against the Serbian side. The newspaper, actually, replicates to certain political circles and media which have over the past weeks demanded for the "Karadzic Case" to be solved by imposing again economic embargo or engagement of the NATO in Bosnia. Clinton's Administration and the American military leadership have decisively rejected such requests, qualifying this as something that could have disastrous consequences on the Dayton peace process. As most of the American media, "The New York Times" also acknowledges the merits of Holbrook by the way he had conducted his mission. "If Karadzic will keep his word, implementation of the Dayton Agreement will be continued according to the established timetable. When in December the IFOR peace forces leave the Balkans, Bosnia shall certainly not be a wholesome state, but it will be a state in peace with the possibility one day to be united", writes the newspaper. (Nasa borba, July 22, 1996) [11] BOSNIA WISHES TO COOPERATE WITH ITS NEIGHBORSVice President of the Muslim-Croat Federation Dr. Ejup Ganic, who is to arrive early this week in Belgrade at the head of an economic delegation, stated that Bosnia did not chose its neighbors but that "it wishes to cooperate with them and build relations where it is possible"."It is necessary to make every step in order to create better conditions for life of citizens of Bosnia-Herzegovina and to secure stability in the region", specified Ganic, in his statement reported on Saturday by the Sarajevo media. According to him, delegation which is to visit Belgrade "will be headed by people capable of making a step forward in the relations between the two states". It is expected that the dialogue between the economic delegations of Belgrade and Sarajevo would result, first of all, in establishing civilian flights between the two cities.
