I. Documents required for Recognition of Degrees from foreign Institutions

1 General 1.1 Application form, provided by the Secretariat. (Available here as MS Word file in Greek.)
1.2 Fee (paravolo) of 35.000 Drs. One for each degree to be recognised. Payable at the Bank of Greece (Acc No 26031/5).
1.3 Statement of article 8 of N. 1599/86. Stating :
1.3.1 that there is no other application for accreditation at D.I.K.A.T.S.A. or in any other Public Authority .
1.3.2 the place of studies
1.4 For non European union citizens: Residence Licence in Greece or Personal Work Permit or a �Green Card� issued by a Greek Public Authority (N. 1975/91 Gov. Garette 184/4-12-91)
2 Recognition of the first Degree of Studies. 2.1 A High School Certificate with a statement from the appropriate authority of the country (i.e. cultural Attache of the relative Embassy in Greece), indicating that the holder of this certificate can be admitted to a Higher Institution of his country. This statement is not necessary if the Certificate has been issued in the European Union or in the U.S.A.
2.2 The Degree to be recognized. In cases that according to the regulation of the Institution an intermediate degree is offered, this document should be submitted.
2.3 An official transcript (with the courses) of all the years of studies.
3 Recognition of Post-graduate studies or Doctorate degree. 3.1 Certificate of recognition of the first degree.
3.2 The degree of studies to be recognized.
3.3 Official transcript with the courses, if these were necessary in the programme of studies.
3.4 A dissertation should also be submitted (to be returned)
3.5 The thesis for doctorate degree.
3.6 A summary of the doctorate Thesis (in Greek).
4 Remarks 4.1 The foreign documents referred to in paragraphs 2 and 3: 4.1.1 Should be submitted in photocopies officially validated. The validation can be also made at our Center on demonstration of the originals.
4.1.2 The documents should be officially translated by a public authority (i.e. Ministry of Foreign Affairs - or Attorney)
4.2 The degree of studies should be certified for its authenticity by the Consular Authorities of Greece at the country in which the degree was obtained or the competent authority according to the Hague Convention.
4.3 For studies in the U.S.A., the official transcript, must be sent directly from the University to D.I.K.A.T.S.A.
4.4 For the other countries, the official transcript and the certificate of the degree should be sent directly to DI.K.A.T.S.A. In this way neither validation of the degree of studies is needed nor translation of the documents.
4.5 For studies at Institutions in the U.K., the U.S.A., Belgium and France, except those for a doctorate degree, a statement of location of studies should be sent directly to D.I.K.A.T.S.A. (not for the location of the Institution). This statement should be received by DI.K.A.T.S.A. before the application for recognition can be submitted.
Note: The certificate of location of studies should include:
- "His/her studies were completed at ... (the name of the city) campus of the... (Institution) and at no other campus"
- Les etudes de... (duration of studies) se sont deroulees en totalite en France or relevant statement.
4.6 In case the Institution in not included in the catalogue of Accredited Institutions of DI.K.A.T.S.A., the bulletin of the Institution should be submitted. In any other case the programme of studies of the Faculty or Department should be submitted.
4.7 The documents submitted to our Center will not be returned except for the dissertations.
4.8 D.I.K.A.T.S.A. can ask for more information, if needed. Also the applicant can submit any relevant document.
4.9 Information concerning the applicant is highly confidential.
4.10 All documents stated above and any transcript from Institutions cannot be sent by FAX or E-MAIL..

II. Documents required for Accreditation of foreign Institutions.

The Bulletin of the Institution. No need for translation if published in English, French, German, or Italian. Otherwise translation is necessary.

III. The documents issued by DI.K.A.T.S.A.

  1. Can be obtained by the applicant upon demonstration of I.D.,

  2. Can be mailed, or

  3. Can be obtained by a third person legally authorized to do so.
