    [02] TURKEY-ISRAEL-US - TURKISH-ISRAELI-US JOINT MANEUVER - JORDAN TO PARTICIPATE IN THE MANEUVER IN OBSERVER STATUS

    ANKARA, Jan 2 (A.A) - Turkish-Israeli-US joint manuever ''Reliant Mermaid'' will take place near Israel's Hayfa Harbour and in the international waters of the Mediterranean between Jan 5 and 9, it was reported on Friday.

    Yavuz and Zafer frigates and a helicopter from Turkey, John Rodgers Destroyer and a helicopter from the US and two ships like speed boats and air aspects from Israel will participate in the military exercise which aims''peaceful and humanitarian research-rescue.''

    The military exercise will be under the coordination of Israeli Naval Forces Commandership. The ships which will participate in the maneuver will be at Israel's Hayfa Harbour till Jan 5, 1998.

    Jordan will participate in the ''Reliant Mermaid'' military exercise in observer status. Egypt will not participate in the exercise due to the reactions of Islam countries.

    [03] TURKEY-ECONOMY - TURKEY PAYS 10.3 BILLION DOLLARS FOREIGN DEBT

    ANKARA, Jan 2 (A.A) - Turkey paid 10.3 billion dollar foreign debt last year, it was reported on Friday.

    According to Central Bank data, 10 percent increase was recorded in repayment of foreign debt which was 9.4 billion dollars in 1996.
