Research assistant position

Applications are invited for a research assistant position available in the Structural Biology and Chemistry Group (SBCG), Institute of Organic & Pharmaceutical Chemistry, The National Hellenic Research Foundation, Athens, Greece, in the frame of a project entitled "Structure-function relationship of TAF9 proteins: potential regulators of the survival motor neuron protein complex and targets for rational drug design". The project focuses on structural studies of proteins related to basal transcription machinery and aspects of pre-mRNA metabolism, using X-ray protein crystallography, and will involve all aspects of modern structural biology from protein expression to structure determination.

Qualified applicants should have a Degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biology, Chemistry or related fields. A Master degree and good knowledge of English language would be advantageous. The candidate should have experience in biochemical and molecular biology techniques such as PCR, cloning and over-expression and purification of recombinant proteins. Familiarity with protein crystallization techniques is desirable but not a requirement.

The post is funded by the EU (under the programme "Structuring the European Research Area" - Proposal N� 006358 - TAF9 proteins) and is available for 1 year.
