The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of Cyprus is looking for new scientists who are interested in taking advantage of the Program for the Support of Young Researchers at Cyprus (PENEK 2002) of the Research Promotion Foundation (IPE) of Cyprus to establish research programs in the area of Biomedical Optics, Biomedical Imaging, Image Processing and/or Medical Decision Making Algorithms. Candidates can choose to join existing projects or submit their own original proposals.

The PENEK program is aimed at training new researchers and establishing contacts between the research community and the private sector. Each proposal includes a Young Researcher, an Experienced Researcher and a Final User (Industry). The grants are usually ~ 35,000 CYP and include a salary for the Young Researcher (900 CYP for post-doc, 750 CYP for MS or PhD candidate level.) The requirements are that the Young Researcher is less than 35 years of age, has received his/her degree during the last 5 years, and commit 100% of his/her time to this project. Citizenship is not required, but residency at Cyprus during the project is.
