CAT 20 is a research post leading to a Ph.D. and CAT 30 is a PostDoc post The MARS unit site is http://mars.aris.sai.jrc.it/ See also http://ipsc.jrc.cec.eu.int/Opportunities.html for more information regarding allowances etc. The overall subject comes under the IPSC institute http://ipsc.jrc.cec.eu.int/ and it is briefly described as follows: analysis of remote sensing imagery and geographical information image processing - spatial data analysis and interpretation; modeling tools within geographical information and decision support systems; image analysis and analysis of open source data; crop areas, yield or production estimates (growth modeling, area frame sampling, yield production, low resolution satellite image analysis, meteorology); large scale mapping, field identification systems, field measurements; remote sensing controls We are looking for someone with a background in GIS/mapping science, with some link/interest in cadastre systems or large scale mapping for urban/rural areas (we intend to focus on rural zones). It's an advantage if the candidate speaks (modern) Greek. Otherwise working language is English and/or French. CLOSING DATE 15 JUNE 2002!
