VACANCY FOR A RESEARCH ASSOCIATE IN COMPUTER SCIENCE, SOFTWARE ENGINEERING, INTERNET TECHNOLOGIES

Applications are invited for a one-two year Research Associate position at the University of Cyprus on a European Commission funded project titled "EMISPHERE- Euro-Mediterranean Internet Satellite Platform for Health, Medical Education and Research." The successful candidate will work as part of a consortium including Universities, Research Centres and Enterprises from the E.U. and the Mediterranean countries.

The aim of the project is to provide an integrated Internet and Satellite platform dedicated to health applications and covering the whole Euro-Mediterranean area. EMISPHER will focus on e-learning applications to develop the concept of a cross-Mediterranean Virtual Medical University; establish a permanent medical and scientific link and contribute to limit corresponding emigration flows, real-time telemedicine applications for remote expertise and 2d opinion and foster cross-Mediterranean cooperation at expert level or for research and shared management of the medical assistance file in case of repatriation of travellers or expatriates, a service which is expected to significantly contribute to the continuity of care throughout the whole Euro-Mediterranean arc.

Applicants should have a good first degree, MSc or PhD, proficiency in areas such as Software Engineering, Internet technologies, and are expected to show potential in project management, and good communication and team working skills. Prior participation to large-scale software projects and/or health-telematics applications will be considered a plus.

The appointment will be made within the salary ranges of 11,000-16,000 CYP p.a. (1 CYP is approx. 1,73 euros). Applicants need not be citizens of the Republic of Cyprus. Knowledge of the Greek language, although considered a practical advantage, is by no means a requirement.
