The Department of Computer Science, University of Cyprus invites applications for a number of Research Associate and Scientific Staff positions in the scope of:

WIRELESS INTERNET: INFRASTRUCTURE & SERVICES

GRID COMPUTING: PERFORMANCE EVALUATION & MIDDLEWARE

These positions will involve conducting research, development and integration, as well as exploring new markets and business opportunities, in the context of projects funded by the European Commission (IST), the Research Promotion Foundation of Cyprus, and the University of Cyprus, expected to start on or around January 2002.

We seek individuals with a strong research commitment, advanced exposure to programming systems, an interest to pursue post-graduate or post-doctoral studies in the University of Cyprus, and expertise/exposure in one of the following areas:

- Internet Systems and Networking - High-Performance, Parallel and Distributed Systems

Available positions include

- Senior Research Associate (a Ph.D. degree is required)

- Research Associates (a M.Sc. degree is required)

- Special Scientists (a B.Sc. degree is required)

The annual salary for a Research Associate is in the range of CY � 9,000 - 16,000, depending on qualifications and prior experience [At present CY �1 = 1.6 US dollars, approximately]. Applicants need not be citizens of the Republic of Cyprus. Knowledge of the Greek language, although considered a practical advantage, is by no means a requirement.
