There are still two vacant research positions in the ADAPT-project at the Dept. of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering (MTM), KULeuven, Belgium. See http://www.mtm.kuleuven.ac.be/Research/ADAPT/

The ADAPT-project is a running European research project. The general objective of this basic research project is the materials development and characterisation of polymer composites with embedded SMA-wires.

The research tasks can involve:

* modelling of the thermomechanical behaviour of polymer composites with embedded shape memory wires, starting from available advanced modelling software

* further development of the modelling software (JAVA, PASCAL) and of the website of the ADAPT-project

* experimental work involving study of the thermomechanical behaviour of these composites, fatigue behaviour, impact tests, etc.

More information on the research topics can be found in the papers available at http://www.mtm.kuleuven.ac.be/Research/ADAPT/ .

The research will be done in collaboration with 4-5 researchers at MTM and about 15 researchers in the project consortium.
