Christara The London School of Economics and Political Science (University of London) The Eleftherios Venizelos Chair of Contemporary Greek Studies Tenable at Supported by a generous endowment from Greece, the School has established a new Chair of Contemporary Greek Studies, tenable from 1 October 1997. The holder of the Chair will be expected to have made an outstanding and internationally recognized contribution to the advancement of the study of contemporary Greece through research and publications about Greece in one or more of the following social sciences: economics, politics, public policy, international relations, business studies or political economy. He/she will be required to direct the Hellenic Observatory within the European Institute and to teach, to develop teaching and to conduct and promote research about contemporary Greece. The Chair will be based in the European Institute and the person appointed will also be a member of the academic department most closely aligned with his/her research interests. The appointment will be made at the appropriate point of the professorial salary scale (min 35,400 pounds per year, including London Allowance).
