GREEK CHAMBER MUSIC AND FOLK SONG PROGRAM "SONGS FROM THE ISLAND OF APHRODITE" TO BE PERFORMED AT BROOKLINE PUBLIC, SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 14TH

Maria Jane Loizou, soprano, will perform "Songs from the Island of Aphrodite" at Brookline Public, Main Library, Sunday, November 14th, at 2 pm.

The program will be a mix of traditional folk songs from Cyprus and contemporary chamber music. Socrates Leptos, guitar, will accompany Ms. Loizou in a set of little-known folk songs, followed by a performance of Cypriot Songs for Maria Jane, a chamber music piece dedicated to her by the composer John Sarkissian. Scored for flute, harp, viola, cello and soprano, the song-cycle is a lively half-hour of folk-based contemporary music. After the concert, there will be an opportunity to meet the artists.

Brookline Public, Main Library, Hunneman Hall, 361 Washington St. Free and open to the public This event is sponsored in part by the Massachusetts Arts Lottery as administered by the Brookline council for the Arts and Humanities
