This series is meant to examine a variety of aspects of the literary and historical legacy of the ancient Greek culture. The lectures will explore the ways in which visions of the past inform and interact with modern cultures, with special emphasis on the culture of Modern Greece. Four distinguished scholars will present talks in this series: October 14: Artemis Leontis (Ohio State University) October 21: Gonda van Steen (University of Arizona) October 28: Anna Stavrakopoulou (Harvard University) [The novels are: "Like A Novel" (1995) by Giannis Kiourtsakis and "The Philhellenes" (1992) by Mimika Kranaki] November 4: Edmund Keeley (Princeton University) All lectures will take place on successive Wednesday afternoons at 4:30 pm in Linsly-Chittenden Hall, 63 High Street, Room 101.
