Come...through my eyes...and see the beautiful island in the Aegean sea called
Siphnos, perfumed by thyme and sparkling in the Apollonian light.
- Evangelos Pantazoglou
Evangelos Pantazoglou was born in Alexandria, Egypt, of Greek parents and
naturalized as a citizen of Greece in the village of Artemona on Siphnos, his
mother's birthplace. After completing a degree in aeronautical engineering in
London, he returned to Greece in 1939, served in the war and subsequently
enlisted in the Middle East Greek Air Force until the end of the war. After
1948, he emigrated to Canada where he worked in aircraft manufacturing. After
his return to Greece in 1961, he became technical advisor to Aristotle
Onassis' Olympic Airways. Since 1961, he resides on Siphnos for the greater
part of each year and pursues his photography, immortalizing his beloved
island's natural beauty.
