WORLD PREMIERE EVENT!!

Miltiades Matthias, perhaps one of Greece's most famous contemporary pianists, will be performing the complete piano works of the Greek composer Manolis Kalomiris (1883-1962) in New York City's C.A.M.I. Hall (across from Carniegue Hall) on 165 West 57th St in New York City. The concert is on Saturday, November 2 at 8:00PM. Tickets are $15 ($10 for students and senior citizens) and are available at the door or, for reservations, call (212) 596-6719.

This will be a wonderful concert! I was privileged enough to attend a private recital by Mr. Matthias this past Friday evening at a private residence and then join the musician for dinner. He is a passionate performer and a very charismatic speaker as well who has taken it upon himself to introduce the music of Greece's lesser-known composers of the last century to the world. Manolis Kalomiris, the founder of the Greek National School of Composition, composed energetic and powerful music that is inspired by the Greek folk tradition but is distinctly original and contemporary. His music is reminiscent of Wagner, Satie, Chopin and Bartok. I highly recommend this concert to anyone who will be in the New York area over the 2nd.
