    Athens, 02/08/1998 (MPA) Greece took first place in its group with a third win in a row over Senegal, 68-57, during the ongoing WorldBasket '98 championship in Athens. Lithuania also scored its third win in as many days by overcoming Brazil 66- 62, following their high-profile victory over a non-NBA United States on Thursday.

    The US team reached the second round of the championships after an easy 88- 62 victory over South Korea. Russia came from behind, losing 34-41 at half- time, to beat Puerto Rico 86-73, while the other favorite to win the title, Yugoslavia, thrashed Japan 99-54.

    [02] GEORGE DALARAS'S CONCERT AT HALKIDIKI TURNS SOUR

    Thessaloniki, 02/08/1998 (MPA) Last night's concert given at the Kassandra Festival by the famous Greek signer and songwriter George Dalaras turned sour after half an hour after the on start of the concert the lights went out and two people were injured amidst the panicked audience.

    Both Mr. Dalaras and the concert producers sued one another, while an arrest warrant has been issued against the singer.

    Athens, 02/08/1998 (MPA) Minister of National Defense Akis Tsochatzopoulos has reiterated that the Cypriot purchase of the Russian-made S-300 missiles would be canceled only if the island is demilitarized.

    Speaking in an interview with a Greek daily , he stressed that a Turkish attack against Cyprus could constitute a causus beli between Greece and Turkey.
