He also said that the government is determined to meet its goals for the viable and balanced development of Greece, the modernization and competitiveness of its economy, the consolidation of its geo-political position and the strengthening of its international role. Referring to the 2004 Olympic Games, the prime minister said that it is not just an honor for Greece but a great opportunity as well both for society and the Greeks. He said that it is a challenge but stressed that the Greeks are offered the chance to prove that they have the ability to be active and creative. The prime minister also referred to the projects that will be constructed in ancient Olympia and the wider region on the occasion of the Olympiad. The program aims at the expansion of cooperation between FYROM and Greece and at setting the path for future mutually profitable contacts.
