The announcement was made by MPA general director Spyros Kouzinopoulos in a speech he delivered last night during an event held by the Pan-Macedonian Association of US-Canada in New York.Mr. Kouzinopoulos referred to MPA's activities that target the Greek communities abroad, stressing the daily news bulletins on the Internet, the publication of the magazine "Elliniki Diaspora", the daily 20-minute television news bulletins transmitted through the Internet, the Balkan News Bank, that will start its operation soon as well as, a number of conferences organized by the news agency. Referring to the developments in the Balkans, Mr. Kouzinopoulos stressed that the latest events in Kosovo and Ankara's moves on the issue have revealed the role Turkey wants to play in the region by preserving the tension in south-eastern Europe in order to have the opportunity to become some kind of a protector of the allegedly oppressed Muslim minorities, having as an ulterior motive to assume the role of a "policeman". [04] THE US HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES EXAMINES THE ABOLITION OF THE VISA REQUIREMENT FOR THE GREEKSWeb Posted: 15:49 GMT+2Washington 21 March (MPA)The US House of Representatives examines the likelihood to abolish the visa requirement for the Greek citizens who want to visit the United States, according to a report published in the Greek-American newspaper "Proini" in New York.On March 25, the Greek Independence Day, the US House of Representatives will examine proposal number 2578 for the implementation of a pilot program exempting the Greeks from the visa requirement. If this proposal is passed and a necessary amendment in legislation is made, then the Greek citizens visiting the United States will not be needing a visa.
