    Amsterdam, June 16 (MPA)

Greece's Alternate Foreign Minister George Papandreou, currently in Amsterdam where he is participating at the European Union Summit Conference, outlined the four "aggressive" points and the four "defensive" ones that Athens would like to see accomplished during the session.

To begin with, Greece wants to strengthen the country in regards to its strategic choices and to secure its equitable participation in the European developments.

Mr. Papandreou stated that the biggest hurdle that has come up so far is related to institutional matters and to the flexibility clause , while all signs show that the issue of a common political defense will advance to a certain degree.

On the matter of a common foreign policy, Mr. Papandreou stressed that Greece is pleased with the current status and does not wish to open a discussion on the matter of the borders.

[04] FRENCH-GERMAN CONFLICT MAY ROCK EU SUMMIT IN AMSTERDAM

    Amsterdam, June 16 (MPA)

The European Union Summit meeting, which started today in

Amsterdam, may be torn apart after the French-German conflict that became apparent during the session.

France is insisting that final decisions be drawn on unemployment and threatens that it will otherwise block the process of the monetary union's first phase. On the other hand, Germany is trying to steer the talks away from addressing the plight of joblessness.

The Premier of Luxembourg, set to take over the EU's presidential post, proposed that another summit be held in October to deal exclusively with the issue of unemployment.
