Thessaloniki, November 20, 1995

PRIME MINISTER'S HEALTH UNDER CONTROL

The situation of mr Papandreou's health is under control, announced late tonight the doctors who treat the greek Prime Minister 77 next February, who has entered hospital short after noon today.

The doctors who took part in the medical council which lasted for three hours said that he suffers from an infection in the lung which in fact has caused an inflamation which is being cured with antibiotics.

They added that mr Papandreou's organs work in full and he is not supported mechanically.

A new communique by the doctros will be given tomorrow after the new examinations mr Papandreou will be submitted, will have finished.

Press and Media Minister mr Tilemahos Hitiris contradicted that there mr Papandreou thinks of naming a substitute for the time he is in hospital saying that the government works normally and called on the media to avoid interpretations which are not in accordance with the professional ethics od medicine and journalism.

Mr Hitiris said that mr Papandreou is optimistic by nature and confimred that the Prime Minister's wife ms Demetra Liani - Papandreou is by the him. Mr Papandreou;s children visited him earlier today.

Mr Andreas Papandreou,entered hospital at 13:00 today after his personal doctor, mr Dimitris Kremastinos considered that he should.
