Bakoyiannis and her Canadian counterpart Lorens Canon preventing double taxation gives a taxation break to Greeks living in Canada and Greek businesses with their headquarters in Canada.This agreement furthers cooperation between Greek and Canadian tax authorities for the prevention of tax evasion and creates better terms for the operation of Greek businesses in Canada. Specifically the two countries' Foreign Ministers signed an Agreement for the Avoidance of double taxation on income and capital as well as prevention of tax evasion between the two countries. The agreement settles taxation regulations on incomes of residents and business activities of Greeks in Canada and vice versa. The agreement includes favourable regulations for Greek businesses in Canada, firm taxation rules and equal completion terms for investors. The signing of the agreement opens new horizons in the two countries' economic relations according to the Foreign Ministry. The bilateral agreement is the most important form of economic cooperation between the two countries and it is expected to become a motive for the furthering of their economic and trade relations. Jackson's DeathNewsSpeaking on the Black Entertainment Television Awards' red carpet in Los Angeles, Joe Jackson- Michael Jackson's father- said he had a "lot of concerns" over the events that led up to his son's death as details began to emerge of the post-mortem examination. He, however, said he couldn't go into detail about what his concerns were but he added the singer's children were the family's "first priority" and that he and Michael's mother have "authority for our son and his children". The family's lawyer, Londel Macmillan said that the second mortem examination was still in progress and added that Michael's mother would ask to take custody of her son's two children who she loves very much. In a speech, he said that he had not assumed power "under the ignominy of a coup d'etat". The army had complied with the constitution, he said, and he had reached the presidency "as the result of an absolutely legal transition process". Mr Micheletti t imposed a 48-hour nationwide curfew from Sunday 2100 (0300 Greek local time). Mr Zelaya, who had been in office since 2006, wanted to hold a referendum that could have led to an extension of his non-renewable four-year term. Polls for the referendum had been due to open early on Sunday - but troops instead took him from the presidential palace and flew him out of the country. International Community Condemns Coup in Honduras UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon called for "the reinstatement of the democratically elected representatives of the country, respect to human rights, including guarantees for the safety of President Selaya, members of his family and his government ". The EU condemned the military coup and called for a swift return to constitutional order and US President Barrack Obama expressed deep concern over the arrest and removal of President Selaya In parallel, the Organization of American states condemned the coup in Honduras and underlined that it would not recognize any other government but that of deposed president Selaya. Barros to Visit Illegal Immigrants Reception CentersInterior Minister Prokopis Pavlopoulos and EU Commissioner for Justice, Freedom and Security Jacques Barros will today fly over Greek coastline from where illegal immigrants enter into the country and later will fly to the island of Samos for a guided tour of the FRONTEX organization French ship which participates in sea patrols. While on the island of Samos the two senior officials will visit illegal immigrant reception centers on the island in the presence of local authority representatives.The Interior Minister and the EU Commissioner will visit the illegal immigrants center in Kyprinos, in the northern Greece prefecture of Ebros, on Monday afternoon. On Tuesday, Mr. Barros accompanied by the Interior Minister will visit illegal immigrants reception center in Attika and later will give a joint press interview. Source: ��� 105.8 News item: 24182 [05] New Arrest Warrant Issued against HristoforakosSpecial interrogator Nikos Zagorianakos issued a new arrest warrant against Siemens finance chief Mihalis Hristoforakos on charges of fraud regarding the C4I contract case signed in 2003.
