    Businessman Periklis Panagopoulos' release is a matter of time. According to latest information, the � 40 million ransom has already been delivered to the abductors. Mr. Panagopoulos' family is now expecting his release. His wife follows the abductors' directions carefully, publicly appealing the abductors to contact with her.     [02] Farmers Block Roads

    Farmers blocked many roads using their tractors as they protest for low prices of products. Nikaia node, Thessalia, the national road of Kavala-Xanthi was blocked. Representatives of farmer's co ordination committees intent to "cut" Greece in two, blocking nodal spots of the national axon Athens-Thessaloniki. Farmers from Larissa, Karditsa, Trikala, Pthiotida,Voiotia and Argolida estimate that the mobilization will be one of the biggest that has ever taken place in recent years. Farmers demand the reduction of the returnable amount of VAT and the increase of pensions. Minister of Agricultural Development said that he is open to discussions and that new measures are expected to be announce within the next week.

    [03] New Driving Licenses

    Minister of transport and communication Mr. Prokopis Pavlopoulos and Athens prefect Mr. Giannis Sgouros presented today the new driving licenses. In order for the new license to be issued, a � 30, 00 fiscal stamp as well as a print application of the driving license must be submitted to the Services of Transport and Self administration of the country. It must be noted that drivers are not obliged to change the old driving license into a new one as old driving licenses will expire at 2033.

    Minister of transport Mr. Stylianidis said that the benefits are many as the new driving licenses are safer; the procedure of issuance is quicker, transportation abroad is conducted smoother and the registration of the blood group is very useful in case of accidents.

    In a multi-page proclamation sent to "To Pontiki" newspaper, the "Revolutionary Struggle" organization claims responsibility for attacks against Riot Police squad in Exarheia, where young policeman Diamantis Mantzounis was injured, Riot Police bus on December, 23, in Goudi as well as an unsuccessful bomb attack against an oil company in Faliro.
