Teachers as well as ADEDY trade union went on a work stoppage today. The rally is dedicated to the memory of teacher Nikos Temponeras who was murdered 18 years ago during violent incidents in Patra. Students of University of Patra and Athens decided to guard universities so as to tackle with any vandalism initiated by anarchists. Protestation rallies have been also staged in Patra and Thessaloniki. Next Friday, party leaders will discuss in Parliament educational issues after the Prime Minister's request.On the occasion of the protestations, new minister of education Aris Spiliotopoulos stated: "I believe in dialogue and I have the impression that I have proved it. I believe that the most profitable decisions are those that come after responsible discussion and precise knowledge of all parameters without big words and loud statements", he stated. SYRIZA president Alexis Tsipras attended the rally in Propylaia and stated that the meaningful answer the circle of violence and blood is the massive fights of youths, workers and trade unions. PASOK rep on educational issues Anna Diamantopoulou stated that the educational community is on the same road bringing out the major problems education faces. Mrs. Dimantopoulou stressed that the government has no future and that politics is required on education with solutions and immediate commitments that will bring teachers and students from streets to their natural environment, open schools and universities. KKE general secretary Mrs. Aleka Papariga from Larissa where is she in a two day tour commented on possible changes in the examination entry system in Hellenic Universities (AEI) and Technological Educational Institutes (TEI) and said that even if examination is abolished, neither the system nor the professional rights and unemployment will improve. "We'll have more unemployed graduates", she said and added that "a tsunami, a volcano must erupt" in the correlation of forces, in trade movements but also in a political level too". News item: 17530 [02] The Policeman Undergoes Surgery againPoliceman Diamantis Mantzounis, 21, who was injured seriously during an attack in Exarchia Monday dawn, underwent surgery again Thursday night after suffering hemorrhage at the digestive system. The policeman suffered hemorrhage in the stomach in the last operation. Now, he is back in the intensive care unit and his condition has been described critical.Interior Minister Prokopis Pavlopoulos was briefed on the policeman's condition and then visited Erithros Stavros Hosptial at dawn. Yesterday, attempts were made to free the policeman from technical medical support gradually.
