[01] Greek Rioting Sparks Reaction Abroad

In France

About 250 university students and Greeks living in Paris gathered Friday evening outside the Greek embassy in Paris to express their solidarity with the Greek youths. "Long live the Greek people and its fighting youths," Police everywhere, Justice nowhere, were some of the slogans the protesters chanted. Among the demonstrators were French leftist Melanson, who left the French Socialist party a month ago, blaming it for centre-right orientation. Melanson offered his support to the fighting spirit of the Greek youths.

Austria-Peaceful Demonstration outside the Greek Embassy in Vienna

The demonstration held Friday afternoon in Vienna was peaceful and rather brief, since tight security had been stepped up. Anarchists had first gathered at the German embassy and marched towards the Greek embassy and then dispersed quietly. Austrian police said that demonstration had been officially announced the day before. Fearing incidents, police had sealed off the area near the Greek embassy.

Russia: Protests outside the Greek Embassy

Police in Russia has stepped up tight measures near Greece's embassies and consulates in the country. The measures were taken Wednesday, when a young demonstrator taking part in a street protest hurled a petrol bomb at the Greek Consulate in MoscowThe Greek embassy has informed Moscow's police that self-style anarchists are planning to protest outside the embassy building on Saturday. In the meantime, in Odessa, Ukraine, the Brotherhood party planned to symbolically torch the Greek consulate in the city to demonstrate their solidarity with Greece's anarchists.
