The farmers wish to meet with the Minister of Rural Development and state they are determined to escalate their rallies if their demands are not met. At the same time, the Agricultural Cooperatives Association of Larissa has been elected the new committee to lead the farmers' rally, commencing on 15 December.Meanwhile, 1.760,000,000 euros have been deposited to the bank accounts of 800,000 beneficiaries on Friday in the form of subsidy. News item: 16412 [02] The Navy Honors its Patron SaintThe Greek Navy honored today Saint Nicolas, its patron Saint in an event that was held in the presence of National Defence Minister Evangelos Meimarakis at the Hellenic Navy Academy.In his short address, Mr Meimarakis conveyed the prime minister's wishes and referred to the importance of the Navy in deterring Greece's enemies. He also referred to the Navy's contribution in Greece's struggles for freedom and Democracy. Source: �NA-�PA News item: 16411 [03] Rally Dedicated to the EnvironmentOn the occasion of World Day against Climate Change, a rally was held at Syntagma square Saturday noon. Participating were 54 environmental organizations, non-governmental organizations, Trade Unions, self-government representatives and scientists. Environment Minister George Souflias said that the EU is leading the campaign on the issue, adding that it has committed itself to reduce the emission of greenhouse gasses by 20% by 2020.
