    28 2008 10:32:00

Addressing the 63rd UN General Assembly in New York, Greeces Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis outlined the keynote priorities of the Greek foreign policy. Earlier, Bakoyannis had held talks with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. "I was given the opportunity to remind once more the Greek positions and the negotiations on the FYROM name dispute, and the Secretary General was, of course, briefed on the progress of the talks. He was also invited to Greece to attend a conference on immigration," said Bakoyannis after her meeting with Ban Ki-moon. On the sidelines of the UN Assembly, the Greek Foreign Minister had talks with her Turkish counterpart Ali Babacan, with whom she discussed Greek-Turkish relations, the Cyprus standoff and the situation in the Caucasus. Shortly after their meeting, the two Foreign Ministers claimed they had a "friendly conversation," offering their backing to the efforts made by the "two leaders" in Cyprus to resolve the problem. The meeting took place at the office of the Greek permanent representative to the UN.
