PASOK (Socialists) spokesman Giorgos Papakonstantinou stated that despite his threats Mr Karamanlis did not manage to solve his intraparty problems, adding that the people believe the PM is now weak. "It appears he neither wishes nor is able to solve their problems," he said.

KKE (Communist Party of Greece) Secretary General Aleka Papariga called on the people to react so a solution is found.

Meanwhile, LAOS (Popular Orthodox Rally) leader G. Karatzaferis stated from Chania that early elections might be declared, calling the PM to realize that the present Parliament can elect a new government with pro-popular direction. Otherwise, Messrs Papandreou and Alavanos would take over, a development that would prove disastrous for Greece.
