  • [01] Tsipras: An end to Greece's supervision now in sight

"We are very close to the point that will allow us to organise the day after," Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said in an address to the ruling SYRIZA party's Central Committee on Sunday. The government's ultimate goal was to lead Greece's to an exit from memorandum programmes and this was now in sight, the prime minister said.

"We did not assume this grave responsibility in order to become managers of the disaster caused by those that had for decades handled the fate of the country, but to put the country back on its feet and lead it out of supervision. We are fighting, with victories and compromises and we have faith in the strength and potential of our country and our people," he said.

Outlining the implications, both positive and negative, of the agreement reached by Eurozone finance ministers in Malta, Tsipras admitted that this included measures that the government would not have necessarily chosen to implement but were necessary in order to arrive at a compromise.

"Following the Malta agreement, the end of supervision and our unswerving goal to end this ordeal is now in sight," Tsipras said.

[02] Dozens dead, scores injured in terror attacks on Coptic churches in Egypt

CAIRO (ANA/ N. Katsikas) A second bomb attack targeting a Coptic church in Egypt took place on Sunday, this time striking in the city of Alexandria, where the Pope of the Coptic Church is based. The second explosion was confirmed by the Coptic Pope's secretary in statements to the Egyptian channel 'On TV'.

According to Egyptian state television, the Alexandria attack left two dead and 21 injured. Earlier, an attack on a Coptic church in Tanta, Egypt left at least 25 dead and 71 injured.

The Egyptian newspaper 'Al Ahram', citing sources, said the second explosion occurred near the Coptic Cathedral of St. Mark in a location that is relatively near to the Greek-Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa.

Greece's foreign ministry earlier strongly condemned the deadly terrorist attack that took place in a Coptic church in Tanta, in an announcement on Sunday.

"Shocked at the deadly bombing attack that took place at the Coptic church of St. George, in the city of Tanta, Egypt, we unequivocally condemn terrorism in all its forms.

Such instances of barbaric, blind violence will not impinge on the tolerant and multi-faith nature of Egyptian society.

Greece stands at the side of its friend Egypt and addresses it deep condolences to the victims' loved ones, the Egyptian people and their government," the announcement read.

[03] ND leader Mitsotakis expresses grief for terror victims in Egypt via Twitter

Greece's main opposition leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the head of the New Democracy party, on Sunday expressed his grief at the loss of innocent lives in the terror attack on the Coptic Church of St. George in Tanta, Egypt on his personal Twitter account.

"Innocent lives unjustly lost, on the Palm Sunday holiday in Egypt, in the church of St. George. Our thoughts are with the families of the victims," Mitsotakis' tweet said.
