[01] Tsakalotos, Stathakis meet with bank managers over ADMIE sale
The actions needed to ensure the timely conclusion of the privatisation
of the country's power grid operator ADMIE were discussed in a meeting
between Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos, Environment and Energy
Minister Giorgos Stathakis and the management of Greece's four biggest
lenders, the finance ministry said.
According to the ministry, specific actions were agreed which, after
the necessary technical and legal processing, fully ensure the timely
completion of the process.
Sources from the environment ministry gave assurances that ADMIE's
split from power utility PPC will be completed according to plan and
that remaining technical details will be resolved imminently so that PPC
shareholders can approve the transfer of the 51 percent stake on their
meeting next Tuesday.
[02] Deputy prosecutor argues against extradition of four Turkish army
officers
A deputy prosecutor asked judges in the penal section of the Supreme
Court to reject Turkey's extradition request for four Turkish army
officers in the third session held in the top court on the appeals
of a total of eight officers who fled to Greece after the failed coup
attempt in the neighbouring country.
Nikos Pantelidis explained in a lengthy speech to the top judges why
the defendants must not be extradited, citing the main provisions on
the protection of human rights as outlined in the European Convention,
adding that there is no evidence to support the view that they will
receive a fair trial if they are sent back to Turkey.
