[01] Mitsotakis accuses government of doublespeak, calls Tsakalotos letter
'despicable'
New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis criticized Prime Minister
Alexis Tsipras and the government on Thursday saying they are the "best
allies" of Greece's most conservative European creditors and described
the letter sent by Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos to the heads of
the Eurogroup and the ESM as "despicable".
"What annoys people is the unbearable doublespeak and the belief that
people are stupid. They are not stupid. They understand that he sends
letters of repentance and servitude abroad , while domestically he
hoists the flag of resistance," he said in an interview with radio
station Alpha 9.89.
"Let everyone see who is [German FinMin] Schaeuble's best ally," he
continued, adding that he has some serious reservation about whether
the government will be able to meet the targets set by its creditors.
