[01] Pavlopoulos expresses support for Cyprus in talks with Anastasiades
The "red lines" in the ongoing negotiations between Cyprus and the
Turkish-Cypriot side that derive from international law and the European
acquis were stressed by President Prokopis Pavlopoulos during his
meeting with Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades on Wednesday evening.
"We are beside you in this marathon negotiations and talks, much more so
as you are advocating shared positions which drive from international and
European law," Pavlopoulos said, adding it is "inconceivable" to reach
any solution that doesn't respect the international and European acquis.
This concerns the Cypriot Republic's legal identity, the issue of
citizenship and mainly the issue of sovereignty, he said.
[02] Talks between government and institutions on NPLs to continue in
following days-Stathakis
Talks between the government and the representatives of the institutions
on the out-of-court mechanism that will settle non-performing business
loans will continue in the following days on a technical level, Energy
Minister Giorgos Stathakis said on Wednesday, after a meeting between
the two sides.
He said they discussed extensively on settling debts and the central idea
was to have a mechanism that will support the viability of the businesses,
promote the conversion of NPLs to performing loans and secure the State. A
large step has been made and a deal might be achieved in the coming days,
he added.
