  • [01] PM Tsipras: Europe needs new vision and specific agenda for change

"What Europe needs is new vision and a specific agenda for change," Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said on Friday upon his arrival at the EU informal summit in Bratislava.

"We need a social Europe with growth, employment and welfare for everyone; for young people and all the citizens," he underlined.

"We need a Europe that can handle the migration issue on human terms and efficiently," Tsipras added.

The EU leaders are meeting in Bratislava to discuss the future of Europe after Brexit.

[02] Greek gov't to present omnibus bill on pending landmark issues next week

The Greek government plans to bring forward an omnibus bill next week including all landmark issues -needing a legislative action- pending from the first review of the Greek bailout program, a top Finance ministry official told ANA after completion of a meeting between Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos, Economy Minister George Stathakis and Alternate Finance Minister George Chouliarakis with the representatives of the institutions on Friday.

The meeting reviewed negotiations held between the two sides this week and as the official said: "today I much more pleased than I was on Monday, as several concerns eased and there is a big progress".

He noted that on the issue of the privatization fund there is a belief that the issue will be fully completed in the next few days, while big progress was made on a bill on e-transactions. On a draft bill on voluntary reveal of undeclared capital, the Finance ministry official said there were still some technical issues to be resolved, but both sides seemed to have come closer.

The representatives of the institutions will leave Athens today and any pending landmark issues will be discussed and resolved on a technical level. In this framework, the government's economic team said a realistic goal was September 29, when a Euro Working Group meeting is scheduled and October 10 when a Eurogroup meeting is scheduled, for the approval of disbursement of a 2.8 billion euros sub-tranche to Greece.
