  • [01] Public Administration Reform Council meeting concluded

A meeting of the Government Council for Public Administration Reform, chaired by Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, was held at the Maximos Mansion on Monday. In an announcement, the premier's office said the meeting had focused on the national strategic reform of public administration and local government.

During the meeting, the government confirmed its commitment to creating an efficient public administration, free from party intervention, which reflects the contemporary needs of Greek citizens and operates exclusively in support of the public interest, the announcement said.

In this context, the ministers taking part discussed an update of the 2016-2018 National Strategy for Public Administration Reform Plan, immediate legislative initiatives to cut down on red tape and simplify bureaucratic processes and the mandatory electronic movement of administrative documents and the interaction and interconnection of public sector IT systems.

Participating in the meeting were Interior and Administrative Reconstruction Minister Panagiotis Kouroumblis, Alternate Interior and Administrative Reconstruction Minister Christoforos Vernardakis, Economy, Development and Tourism Minister George Stathakis, Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos, Minister of State Alekos Flambouraris, and general secretaries Michalis Kalogirou and Dimitris Tzanakopoulos.

[02] Minister of State meeting owners of four companies awarded TV licences

Minister of State Nikos Pappas on Monday had a series of meetings with the owners of the four companies provisionally awarded television broadcasting licences in last week's tender, pending the outcome of audits to determine the source of their funding.

Pappas started by meeting ship and football club owner Vaggelis Marinakis, after which he entered a meeting with construction firm owner Christos Kalogritsas. He is next scheduled to meet the owner of ANT1 television Thodoris Kyriakou and then the owner of the SKAI broadcasting company Yiannis Alafouzos.

According to ANA sources, Pappas congratulated them on obtaining licences and noted that the audits were pending, while also stressing their major responsibility for ensuring that the Greek people are informed of news and developments.

[03] Sports and Tourism in 'Santorini Experience'

The ultimate sports experience comes for a second consecutive year in one of the most significant touristic destinations in the world, in Santorini, on Oct 7-9 2016.

Santorini Municipality, Municipal Sports Cultural & Environmental Organization in Santorini (DAPPOS) and the award-winning Group of Active Media co-organize "Santorini Experience" which includes activities like running and swimming.

This year's event program includes open water swimming from the volcano to the old port of Fira. The swimming route has been designed by the Federal Technical coach of Swimming, with Olympic and World medals in open water swimming Nikos Gemelos, who will be the Technical Director of the event in swimming, while great names of our national team, such as Olympic and World Champion in open water swimming, Spyros Gianniotis and World Champion in open water swimming, Kelly Araouzou, along with a variety of leading open water swimming athletes like Antonis Fokaidis, Giorgos Arniakos and Dimitris Negris will take part in this year "Santorini Experience".

Respectively, various running routes will be held at the magical path that connects Oia with Fira overlooking the Caldera. This year' s routes have been selected by the former marathon runner, holder of national best performance on the classical route, running coach, manager of All About Running and technical director of the event in running, Nikos Polias.

The event will be held under the auspices of the Hellenic Swimming Federation (KOE).
