  • [01] Greece and Cyprus coordinated on the Cyprus issue, President Pavlopoulos says

"Greece and Cyprus, Cyprus and Greece are perfectly coordinated in terms of resolving the Cyprus issue", Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos on Wednesday said during his meeting with Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades at the Presidential Mansion.

A solution to the Cyprus issue can only exist on the basis of the decisions of the United Nations' institutions and particularly the Security Council as well as on the basis of the EU acquis.

Anastasiades said that his visit in Athens is part of the programme on the exchange of views regarding the course of the negotiations and the next moves. He also expressed the hope "for a sincere dialogue which will allow us to transform the existing differences". He concluded: "Modern states with guarantees and guarantors can't exist."

The tremor was felt throughout the island.
