[01] Greek football Cup restartsDeputy Minister of Culture and Sport, Stavros Kontonis, announced on Friday that the Greek football Cup will restart, following the deal agreed on Tuesday with FIFA, UEFA and the Hellenic Football Federation (EPO).Due to this decision, which must be sent to the World Confederation until Friday midnight, EPO will avoid being suspended from international federations, while FIFA and UEFA will take an active role in reconstructing and modernizing Greek football. The dates for the remaining cup matches will be decided by EPO. However, semi-finals will be held without spectators. Tickets for the final won't be sold and only students will attend the match. [02] Life Debag conference highlights the perils of the plastic bag in GreeceEach Greek citizen uses, on average, between 240 and 500 plastic bags each year, many of which wind up in the sea or in the natural environment, degrading habitats, public health and the country's tourism product. This and other facts about the plastic bag and its perils in Greece were presented at a conference at the Biotechnical Chamber organised as part of the MED SOS environmental network's "Life Debag" campaign.The group highlighted the drastic repercussions from the use and overuse of plastic bags, as well as the need for a new mindset establishing good practices on the part of consumers. Patras University professor and programme coordinator Georgios Papatheodorou noted that the risks of plastic to the marine environment have been well documented since 1995, with more than 600 marine species affected by its use and more than 50 species systematically ingesting plastics. At present rates, he said, 99.8 pct of marine birds will have swallowed plastic by 2050 and their use will have altered the seabed with detrimental impact on biodiversity. He reported an estimated 250,000 tonnes of plastic floating on the world's oceans, and 3,500 bits of debris per square kilometre in the Saronic Gulf - chiefly plastic bags, bottles and aluminium. [03] Three candidates in tender to sell TRAINOSEThree investment groups expressed their initial interest for the sale of 100 pct stake of TRAINOSE S.A., Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund (HRADF) said on Friday.The investment groups are: - Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane S.p.A. - Open Joint-Stock Company "Russian Railways" - GEK TERNA SOCIETE ANONYME HOLDINGS REAL ESTATE CONSTRUCTIONS HRADF's advisors will evaluate, per terms and criteria stipulated in the Process Letter, the above expressions of interest and submit to HRADF's Board of Directors their recommendation as to which candidates qualify for the next phase, which includes the access to detailed information about the asset and the terms of the transaction (virtual data room). The deadline for the binding offers is set for 05/31/2016. [04] Greek budget primary surplus jumped to 2.679 bln euros in Q1Greek budget primary surplus amounted to 2.679 billion euros in the first quarter of 2016, up from a surplus of 1.732 billion in the same period last year and sharply up compared with a budget target for a primary surplus of 1.095 billion euros.The Finance ministry, in a report on budget execution –on an amended cash base- said the state budget showed a surplus of 222 million euros in the January-March period, from a deficit of 503 million euros last year and a budget target for a deficit of 1.335 billion euros. State budget net revenue amounted to 12.503 billion euros in the three-month period, down 0.6 pct from targets, while regular budget net revenue totaled 10.949 billion euros, up 3.6 pct from targets. Tax returns totaled 762 million euros in the January-March period, down from a budget target of 773 million euros. Public Investment Programme revenue was 1.554 billion euros, down 446 million from targets. State budget spending was 12.282 billion euros in the first three months of the year, down 1.626 billion from targets, while regular budget spending totaled 11.702 billion euros, down 1.546 billion from targets. Regular budget spending was down 278 million euros from the same period last year. Public Investment Programme spending was 580 million euros, down 80 million from targets. In March, state budget net revenue was 2.881 billion euros, down 1.030 billion from targets, while regular budget revenue was 2.849 billion, up 58 million from targets. Tax return totaled 218 million euros, up 34 million from monthly targets. Spending was 3.980 billion euros, down 651 million from monthly targets, while regular budget spending was 3.760 billion euros, down 586 million from targets.
