[01] Labour minister: 'We reject new demands that are not part of
July deal'
BRUSSELS (ANA-MPA/M. Spinthourakis) – The Greek government will
not take any more measures beyond what was agreed on last summer,
Labour Minister Giorgos Katrougalos said on Tuesday during a briefing
of the European parliament's permanent monitoring committee of Greek
negotiations.
"I briefed MEPs that we will abide by our obligations to the letter,
but as part of a reform that has a national plan and pursues fairness and
social justice. In this context, I explained and I think everyone accepted
it, that we reject new demands which have no connection with the July
agreement, and which essentially puts on the table things that we never
agreed upon and which we are not obliged to follow.," he told journalists.
"I therefore hope that the negotiations, although it tough, will have
a good ending and the weight of the European Parliament in this effort
is important," he added.
