  • [01] Labour Min Katrougalos to meet heads of institutions at 11:00

    Labour Minister George Katrougalos will meet with the heads of the institutions at 11:00 to discuss pension reforms.

    Katrougalos in an interview with Star TV late on Monday said that the government's red line is not to reduce pensions.

    He also underlined that the impasses in the social security issue "were inherited from the previous governments."

    [02] Farmers escalate their mobilisations; Tempi Valley closed from 10:00-22:00 on Tuesday

    Farmers on Tuesday at 10:00 closed with their tractors the Athens-Thessaloniki motorway at Tempi Valley. The blocking of Tempi will last until 22:00.

    Moreover, farmers will also interrupt the traffic at Microthebes on the Athens-Thessaloniki motorway from 12:00 to 18:00 on Tuesday.

    Farmers throughout Greece escalate their mobilisations that will peak on Thursday, a day that, as they said, "the country will experience unprecedented conditions. Farmers give a 5-day deadline for the setting up of an interparty committee. "All party leaders should clearly state their positions," said the member of the the coordination committee of Malgar blockade Achilleas Kambouris

    The farmers escalate their mobilisations against the government reforms in the social security system.

    [03] Large number of refugees at Greece-Fyrom buffer zone; crossing conducted very slowly

    Only 750 refugees were allowed to cross the Greece-Fyrom buffer zone at Idomeni from Monday midnight until 6 am on Tuesday.

    According to the police, the procedure is very slow as the crossing point on Fyrom's side remains closed for many hours.

    700 refugees are currently at the camp waiting to cross the border while another 4,000 are at a nearby gas station waiting to reach the buffer zone.
