Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias on Friday received DUI President Ali Ahmeti, who leads the largest ethnic Albanian party in the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (fYRoM), a party that is a coalition partner in the Skopje government.

He was accompanied by fYRoM Deputy Prime Ministers Musa Xhaferi and Fatmir Besimi.

In statements afterwards, Ahmeti noted that the issue of fYRoM's name was a priority for his party, since it was linked to the country's prospects of joining the EU and NATO.

He described his meeting with Kotzias as "very useful" and said he had discerned goodwill on the part of the Greek foreign minister, "in the direction of a solution to the name issue", which he was willing to convey to his coalition partner and Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski in Skopje, "so that all sides express a strong will to solve the problem."
