[01] Protecting national borders a sovereign right of member states,
Alternate FM says
"Athens' position is that all member states need to examine a single
border protection policy and rules to upgrade Schengen zone – above
all, to protect it," Alternate Minister for European Affairs Nikos
Xydakis said in radio statements on Wednesday.
"However, protecting national borders is still the sovereign right of
each member state," he underlined and added that "we need a serious and
in-depth discussion on this."

on Wed.
A special event marking the 110th anniversary since the Athens New
Agency-Macedonian Press Agency's (ANA-MPA) establishment was held on
Wednesday evening at the Michalis Cacoyannis Foundation in downtown
Athens. The history of Greece's national news agency since its early
days was detailed by author Vasilis Vasilikos, while an exhibition of
the agency's archive material was inaugurated.
"The media landscape of today has very little in common with what
it looked like 110 years ago. However, the need for independent and
reliable news reporting, as provided by ANA-MPA, is stronger than ever
with more and more platforms used by citizens to keep up with dramatic
developments about economy, migration etc. I wish you and the colleagues
at ANA-MPA good celebrations today and all the best for the future,"
was the statement by European Alliance of News Agencies secretary general
Erik Nylen.
