    An election for a new president of Greece's main opposition party, New Democracy, have reportedly been rescheduled for Dec. 13, sources said on Monday. The election which was set to take place on Sunday, Nov. 22, was postponed after the computer system to be utilized for the election and to tally the vote never achieved active status.

    The party's electoral committee, which met on Monday, also decided to again commence the process of selecting an IT to manage the election. The development generated a firestorm of controversy in the country.

    SKOPJE (ANA-MPA/ N. Fragopoulos) - The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) will continue to allow refugees from war zones to cross its borders but it will prevent the entry of third country nationals attempting to reach the EU as "economic migrants", Foreign Minister Nikola Popovski said on Monday, in a meeting with foreign ambassadors in the country.

    He said the Skopje government has been forced to take this decision after certain European countries announced that they will only accept refugees from war zones, as well as similar decisions taken by Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia with respect to their borders.

    Popovski also asked that Greece, as an EU member-state and Schengen Pact signatory, should 'sort' would-be economic migrants from the refugees fleeing armed conflicts, in order to determine who has a right to cross the Greece-fYRoM border and who doesn't.

    According to the country's interior ministry, 5,980 refugees were allowed into the FYROM on Sunday, all originating from Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq.

    In the meantime, local news channels reported that dozens of third country nationals stranded in a neutral zone between the two countries at the Eidomeni border and barred from crossing the frontier have started a hunger strike and stitched their lips together in protest.
