  • [01] Parliament's Debt Truth Committee proposes "suspension of payments

ANA/MPA---Parliament president Zoi Konstantopoulou late Thursday released the preliminary report of the Debt Truth Committee and stated that "We have come to the conclusion that the debt is illegal, unlawful, odious, disgraceful and non sustainable. It is of major importance that there are serious arguments that doubt the debt's legality, unilateral suspension of debt's payment."

During the press conference the members of the committee proposed 'suspension of payments' to the lenders.

Konstantopoulou also explained that these are the results of the first stage of the Committee's research and a full audit control will follow.

On his part, the scientific advisor of the committee Eric Toussaint said that "the damage is so big that the Greek state can proceed to a suspension of the debt's payment" underlining that the finds can be used by the government which is conducting a tough negotiation.

[02] Greece-Russia announce their engagement to implement the "South European Pipeline"

ANA/MPA---Productive Reconstruction, Environment and Energy Minister Panagiotis Lafazanis and the head of the State Corporation "Bank for Development and Foreign Economic Affairs (Vnesheconombank)" Dmitriev Vladimir on Friday made a joint statement on the gas pipeline to be constructed in Greece with the discreet name "New European Pipeline".

The two sides announced their commitment to support and facilitate by all legal means available the gas infrastructure project called "South European Pipeline", in Greek territory.

They welcomed the establishment of the new joint company for the direct implementation of the "South European Pipeline", with the participation of VEB Capital and "Energy Investments Public Enterprise SA", a new company of the Greek State, with the Greek State as a sole shareholder, as strategic investors (or founders), with the view to promoting and participating in gas pipeline and other infrastructure investment projects for economic development.

They pointed out that the new joint company will be the owner of the "South European Pipeline" and will be responsible for planning, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of the project consisting of pipelines, compressor stations and other infrastructure necessary for its operation.

"Intensive work on the project will commence immediately with the preparation of the feasibility study, technical studies and other planning studies for the South European Pipeline," they stressed.
