[01] Government not prepared to discuss mass dismissals, Labour Minister Skourletis tells ANA-MPAANA/MPA---The International Labour Organisation's (ILO) positive statement concerning a government legislative initiatives on labour issues will be an additional tool in Greece's talks with the creditors, Labour Minister Panos Skourletis said in an audio interview with ANA-MPA on Friday. The minister also underlined that the government is not prepared to discuss creditors' demands to lift restrictions on mass dismissals, noting that this is among the government's so-called "red lines".He said that the government will head for the talks "having in hand a statement on the part of the ILO that, without replacing the discussion between the institutions and the Greek government, takes an initially positive stance toward the specific legislative initiative," he said. "The positive thing is that the ILO, on its part, welcomed the relaunch of social dialogue in Greece and more specifically adopted a positive position regarding the specific legislative initiative, which takes us back to a logic of autonomy in collective bargaining and restoring the real content of collective bargaining and social dialogue," the minister said. "I consider that today is a very important day at a crucial juncture, when you know that labour issues are being discussed with the institutions. We did very well." Asked how the government intends to deal with the institutions' insistence on reforms to labour law, Skourletis replied that the institutions had recognised the necessity to look at specific issues again, in tandem with the Greek government. "The institutions have also recognised the need to have another look, all together, at the specific issues that concern collective bargaining and also, beyond their own specific obsessions, one would say the crucial issues of mass dismissals, which are for the Greek government a clear, absolutely clear 'red line' and such an issue is not raised by us. I think that after today's meeting they will also find that not just in Greece but in the international community there is forming a front of support for the initiative that the Greek government is taking today to restore collective bargaining."
