[01] The most crucial issue is the new generation, PASOK leader says
ANA/MPA---The obligation of PASOK, of the Democratic Bloc, the obligation
of a national cooperation and responsibility government that needs to
be formed is to make room for young people, to enable the development
of Greece's creative powers through a new production model, PASOK leader
Evangelos Venizelos said on Tuesday.
"Amid the tension of the pre-election confrontation, we constantly refer
to ‘which government', ‘which opposition', ‘what will happen with
the negotiation' and we forget that the most crucial issue is the new
generation, the girls and boys of Greece, the people that pick up the
baton, those who live in the agony of unemployment, young people with
many qualifications, degrees, masters and PhDs, with ideas that want to
help the country but are unable to do so," he said after meeting with
a representation of the European Federalist Union's PES activists and
PASOK youth organization.
[02] Greens-DIMAR co-leader: Overtaxation must come to a halt
ANA/MPA--Greens-Democratic Left co-leader Fotis Kouvelis asked for the
reversal of the ovetaxation imposed by the government in a statement
on Tuesday.
"The citizens' devastation by the overtaxation cannot be covered by
pre-elections promises and big words," he said underlining that the
government did not want to tackle the tax evasion scourge adding that
it had the opportunity to create a stable and socially just taxation
system with gradual rates because, as he said, nobody tried to stop it
from broadening the taxation base limit and fairly allocating the burdens.
"It exhausted the citizens and tolerated the tax avoidance. This unjust
policy that culminated with the Uniform Real Estate Ownership Tax (ENFIA)
must stop. This policy must change!" said Kouvelis.
